Jordan Rugby proudly announces the launch of a comprehensive training camp series for its national teams, beginning with the Men’s National Team. This series starts with a camp in the desert landscape of Wadi Rum and continues along the coastal settings of Aqaba from September 12th to 14th, 2024. This initiative aligns with Jordan Rugby’s preparations for the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Kathmandu, Nepal, in early October.
Strategic Growth and Partner Collaboration
Aziz Zakaria, Secretary General of Jordan Rugby, detailed the initiative’s broader goals: “These training camps utilize Jordan’s unique landscapes to prepare our athletes, simultaneously enhancing our international profile. In collaboration with our partners, Isuzu Jordan and Royal Jordanian, we aim to showcase Jordan as a prime destination for sports tourism. This initiative benefits all stakeholders by integrating Jordan’s natural beauty into our strategic preparations while promoting the sport of rugby, our partners and the country. This series, beginning with the men’s team, will expand to include all national teams, demonstrating our commitment to comprehensive excellence.”
Focused Preparations and Team Building
Ahmad Hamouqa, Director of Rugby and Performance, noted the camps’ importance for team cohesion and performance: “These camps are crucial for building our team’s capabilities. We’ve selected 16 players to join the camp, with a final twelve to be chosen for the Asia competition. Training in Wadi Rum and Aqaba allows us to create the perfect conditions for mental and physical preparation. Our previous training camp in London International Sevens (LIT7s) was just the beginning; now, we continue to build our team’s performance and enhance our competitive edge in preparation for Nepal and beyond.”

Isuzu Jordan: Driving Performance and Rugby Excellence
Isuzu Jordan plays an integral role in powering Jordan Rugby’s training camp series as the official performance and on ground transportation partner. Known for their durability and reliability, Isuzu’s robust pickup ensure smooth travel for both players and equipment across Jordan’s diverse and challenging landscapes.
Perfectly suited to the demands of our camps, these pickups provide safe and efficient support through some of Jordan’s toughest terrains. Built to handle long distances and harsh conditions, they embody the same strength, resilience, and endurance that define the sport of rugby, showcasing reliability and performance both on the road and on the field. This partnership highlights the mutual values of toughness and commitment shared by Isuzu and Jordan Rugby.
A Vision for Future Camps
This initiative marks the start of a broader strategy to use Jordan’s attractive and mixt landscapes for high-level athletic training. Beyond preparing for the upcoming competitions, these camps are set to become a foundational aspect of Jordan Rugby’s training approach, utilizing the natural beauty of sites like Petra, Ajloun, Jerash and Al-Salt in future camps.
